My name is Tim Singer, I'm 23, and I'm from Santa Barbara, CA. I graduated in 2010 from UC Santa Barbara with a B.S. in Aquatic Biology. I am currently a Peace Corps volunteer living in Fiji working with the Fijian Ministry of Fisheries, I got here in May 2011 and I will be here until ~July 2013. I could detail you about my interests or physical characteristics, I don't really feel like it though so I'll keep it short. I'm male and I like stuff.

The Peace Corps has 3 main goals:
1. To help the people of interested countries in meeting their need for trained men and women
2. To help promote a better understanding of Americans on the part of the peoples served
3. To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of all Americans

I created this blog for two purposes. The first is to provide my friends and family back in the states with some means of keeping tabs on me, as my ability to communicate will most likely be limited. The second purpose is to try and fulfill the third goal stated above. I hope that by sharing stories about my experiences I will be able to convey what life is like in Fiji and how the people there are both similar and different from Americans.

That being said, my blog will read kind of like a journal. Or a picture book. We'll see. I'm not really sure exactly who will be reading it, so I'm not going to tailor my posts for a specific audience. I'll most likely just be detailing how I'm adjusting to island life and what I'm doing for the Peace Corps, but I'm new to this whole blogging thing so I hope I can keep it interesting.  If that fails, I should at least be able to provide some pretty pictures. Here is one to get you started...

...ok, so maybe not so pretty. At least I set the bar low.
